Ordering outside of the United States can be a costly endeavor. Maui Plumeria Gardens tries to accommodate shipments worldwide, however, there are restrictions and regulations that are out of our control.
Most countries outside of the United States require a phytosanitary certificate to accompany plant shipments. To obtain a certificate, plumeria shipments for export must be inspected by our local United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) at a cost of $61 USD per shipment. The $61 USD fee is set by USDA. Some countries also require an import permit which is generally obtained in the receiving country. Shipments without a phytosanitary certificate rarely make it to their final destination.
Below is a partial list of requirements for countries outside of the US. Please email us at plumeria@mauiplumeriagardens.com if your country is not listed and you have interest in purchasing plumeria.
EU member countries (Austria; Belgium; Bulgaria; Croatia; Cyprus; Czech Republic; Denmark; Estonia; Finland; France; Germany; Greece; Hungary; Ireland; Italy; Latvia; Lithuania; Luxembourg; Malta; Montenegro; Netherlands; Poland; Portugal; Romania; Slovakia; Slovenia; Spain; Sweden; Switzerland). Currently, we are not able to ship plumeria to any EU countries. The EU has a requirement that plant shipments must come from an area that is free from Thrip Palmi. While our farm does not have Thrip Palmi, it is present in Hawaii. Our local USDA office will not issue a phytosanitary certificate due to this requirement. Without a phytosanitary certificate, it is extremely unlikely a package of plumeria will reach its final destination.
Canada A phytosanitary certificate and import permit are required. Maui Plumeria Gardens obtains the phytosanitary certificate at a cost of $61 USD per shipment. The Canadian customer must obtain an import permit from the Canadian Department of Agriculture. Plumeria does require an import permit. You can find more information on Canadian import permits here: import permit. The cost of the import permit is minimal.
Australia. Seed shipments are allowed without permits for shipments weighing under 3 grams (this is approximately 20 seeds). For seed shipments over 3 grams, a phytosanitary certificate is required. We are not able to ship plumeria cuttings to Australia.
Kuwait A phytosanitary certificate is required for plumeria cuttings and seeds.
Japan. A phytosanitary certificate is required for plumeria cuttings and seeds. In addition, plumeria cuttings must be kept in a 3 month quarantine in the US before cuttings can be released for shipment.
